In phosphoric acid fuel cell (PAFC) stack, reduction of the phosphoric acid that is impregnated in the cell is a major factor to restrict the operating life. In this paper, the phosphoric acid reduction by the evaporative and condensational dissipation was evaluated by numerical analysis. The calculations that include the behavior of heat transfer, gas flow, and evaporation and condensation of phosphoric acid were conducted for the model cell with conditions that correspond to an on site stack. The phosphoric acid was considered as a composite of phosphorus pentoxide and water, and the evaporation and condensation rates were derived based on the nucleation theory for a two components system. The phosphoric acid distributions in the vapor phase and liquid phase at the process gas and electrode were calculated for the duration of 3300 h, and as a result of those, the exhausting and remaining amount of phosphoric acid for the cell were evaluated. The analysis results were compared with the experimental results for the model cell.  相似文献

Several lines of evidence have suggested that decreases in postsynaptic inhibition may have a role in epileptogenesis in cortical structures. However, other studies have suggested that GABAergic inhibition is spared, or even augmented in some forms of post-lesional epilepsy. In the studies described here, inhibitory events were recorded in two models of post-lesional chronic epileptogenesis. (i) As previously reported (D.A. Prince and G.-F. Tseng. J. Neurophysiol. 69: 1276-1291. 1993), epileptiform activity develops in slices from partially isolated rat neocortical islands 2-3 weeks after the initial in vivo lesion. In this model of post-traumatic epilepsy, large amplitude polyphasic inhibitory postsynaptic currents (IPSCs) in layer V pyramidal neurons are associated with each interictal epileptiform field potential. The frequency of spontaneous IPSCs as well as miniature IPSCs was significantly increased in neocortical slices from the epileptogenic chronically injured cortex versus controls. Immunocytochemical reactions for parvalbumin and calbindin, calcium binding proteins present in subgroups of GABAergic neurons, showed an increased staining of both neuropil and somata within the epileptogenic tissue. Immunoreactivity for glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD) and GABA also appeared to be increased in the neuropil. (ii) Cortical microgyri resembling human malformations were produced by freeze lesions made transcranially in P0 rat cortex (K.M. Jacobs, M.J. Gutnick, and D.A. Prince. Cereb. Cortex, 6: 514-523. 1996). The boundary between the four-layered microgyrus and surrounding cortex become epileptogenic within about 2 weeks, as judged by evoked extracellular field potentials and cellular activities. Epileptogenesis in the surrounding cortex is not altered when the microgyrus itself is isolated by transcortical cuts. Patch-clamp recordings from layer V neurons in the epileptogenic zone showed that spontaneous IPSCs are larger and more dependent on glutamatergic synapses than in control neurons. The amplitudes of polysynaptic IPSCs evoked by threshold stimulation were also larger than in control cells. Although evaluation of inhibitory events in these models is still incomplete, results to date suggest that GABAergic inhibition may be enhanced in epileptogenic areas associated with chronic cortical injury. Sprouting of axonal arborizations of pyramidal cells onto interneurons, upregulation of GABAergic neurons, and perhaps sprouting of inhibitory axons that make increased numbers of contacts onto pyramidal cells may all contribute to the increased inhibitory drive. Results in these models do not support the disinhibitory hypothesis of chronic epileptogenesis.  相似文献

A series of poly(urethane-imide)s were prepared by a novel approach. Polyurethane (PU) prepolymer was prepared by the reaction of polyester polyol and 2,4-tolylenediisocyanate (2,4-TDI), and then end-capped with phenol. The PU prepolymer was blended with poly(amide acid) or oligo(amide acid) prepared from 2,2′-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl)hexafluoropropane dianhydride (6FDA) and oxydianiline (ODA) at room temperature in various weight ratios. The blend films obtained by casting and then drying were not transparent, suggesting that phase separation occurred between the polyimide (PI) and PU components. The films became transparent, however, after thermal treatment at 100°C and then 200°C for 1 h each, irrespective of the ratio of the two components. The poly(urethane-imide) films showed good solvent-resistance. Dynamic mechanical analysis of the films showed that glass transition temperatures (Tg) shifted depending on the ratio of PI and PU components. This shift of Tg, along with the transparency of the films, suggests that the PU and PI components employed here are miscible to some extent and that domains of each phase by microphase separation are small. Tensile measurement of the blend films from poly(amide acid) showed that the films are plastic or elastic, depending on the ratio of the components. Thermal stability of the PU was found to increase by the incorporation of polyimide component.  相似文献

We investigate quantum fluctuations of striped and honeycomb domain walls in 2D incommensurate states at T=0 near the commensurate-incommensurate transition point. It is revealed that stripes melt due to quantum fluctuations and become a soliton liquid for a large-wall-spacing region. Zero-point energies of striped and honeycomb phases are calculated using an elastic theory. As a consequence of these results, phase diagrams for soliton-lattice and liquid phases are discussed for various domain-wall masses.  相似文献

In Japan, the Nuclear Power Engineering Corporation (NUPEC), sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), has been conducting a series of seismic reliability proving tests using full-scale or close to full-scale models to simulate actual important equipment that is critical for seismic safety of nuclear power plants. The tests are intended to validate the seismic design and reliability with a sufficient margin even under destructive earthquakes. A series of tests was carried out on a reinforced concrete containment vessel (RCCV) for advanced boiling water reactor (ABWR) from 1992 to 1999. A large-scale high-performance shaking table at Tadotsu Engineering Laboratory, the largest in the world, was used for this test. Part 1 reports the test model and the results of pressure and leak tests. Part 2 describes test procedures, input waves and the results of verification tests such as changes of stiffness, characteristic frequency and damping ratio, the failure of the model and the load deflection. Part 3 shows the seismic safety margin that was evaluated from the energy input during the failure test to a design basis earthquake. Part 4 reports simulation analysis results by a stick model with lumped masses.  相似文献

Issues related to the reliability of man-machine interfaces (MMIs) are discussed from a multi-faceted point of view. Reliability concerning the human operator, the user of MMIs, is discussed using the stimulator data obtained under abnormal plant conditions. Based on the analysis, requirements for MMI design are derived. Cognitive task analysis is also performed to derive design requirements related to human problem solving.Reliability of software, one of the major components of the MMI, is then discussed from the viewpoint of software diversity. Other issues are also discussed to reduce design and implementation errors in the software development process.An experience in carrying out the evaluation of MMIs, one of the critical issues in developing dependable MMIs, is presented to clarify the methodological issues to be solved in the future.The discussions included in this paper show the necessity for a multi-faceted approach to the reliability of MMI both as an integrated object and as a component in a complex human-machine system.  相似文献

Oral intake of some lactic acid bacteria can have beneficial effects on the host by activating immune responses and enhancing resistance to infection by pathogens. In this study, effects of Lactobacillus sp. on the development of autoimmune disease were examined in mice with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). CIA, a model of some types of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), can be induced in DBA/1J mice by immunizing them with bovine type II collagen (bCII). Oral intake of skimmed milk (SM) fermented with Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus OLL1073R-1 (SM/OLL1073R-1) was found to markedly inhibit the development of CIA in these mice, compared with a control group fed the control foodstuff. The inhibitory effect of SM fermented with L. delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus OLLI 102 (SM/OLL1102) or fresh SM was weaker than that of SM/ OLL1073R-1. A deMan Rogosa Sharpe (MRS) broth culture of OLL1073R-1 without any major components of SM had the same inhibitory effect as SM/OLL1073R-1, suggesting that the inhibitory effect of SM/OLL1073R-1 is attributable not only to SM components but also to OLL1073R-1 cells, their metabolites, or both. We found that SM/OLL1073R-1 and SM caused reduced secretion of the cytokine IFN-gamma by lymph node cells (LNCs) in response to bCII. However, SM/OLL1102 did not affect the secretion of IFN-gamma. A polysaccharide fraction secreted by OLL1073R-1 also exhibited the inhibitory effects on both development of CIA and secretion of IFN-gamma.  相似文献

This paper describes the development of a dc-powered Josephson logic family that uses hybrid unlatching flip-flop logic elements (Huffles). The Huffle circuit used in this study is modified by adding a parallel resistor to the original Hebard-type Huffle circuit. Analysis of the circuit's operation shows that the undesirable hung-up phenomena are prevented by this modification. Based on the result of the analysis, the circuit's parameters are derived and a typical operating margin of ±26% is obtained. Besides AND/OR operations using a threshold logic operation, two-input exclusive OR (XOR), two-input multiplexor (MUX), and three-input majority (MAJ) operations are realized using a Huffle gate in which 2-Josephson-interferometers (2JI) in the standard Huffle gate are replaced by stacked-2JI's. Thus, a Huffle logic family, formed from NOT, AND, OR, XOR, MUX, MAJ, and flip-flop (FF), are constructed. By using this Huffle logic family, a 6-b arithmetic logic operating unit (ALU), a 6-b analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and a 6-b gray-to-binary converter (GBC) have been successfully operated. Summary Asymmetric anionic polymerizations of achiral N-diphenylmethylitaconimide (DPII) were performed with chiral ligand — organometal complexes in toluene. The obtained poly(DPII)s exhibited molecular weights of 1.5 × 103 to 6.3 × 103 and specific rotation between +7.5 to −18.4° (THF). The chirality of polymer was significantly affected by the organometals and chiral ligands. The poly(DPII) obtained with (4S)-2,2′-(1-ethylpropylidene)bis(4-benzyl-4,5-dihydrooxazole) (Bnbox) / n-butyllithium (n-BuLi) exhibited the highest specific rotation (−18.4°). The optical activities of the poly(DPII)s were attributed to configurational chirality of the main chain more than conformational chirality, judged from NMR, circular dichroism (CD) and GPC analyses using UV and polarimetric detectors. As electronic devices become more highly integrated, the demand for small, high pin count packages has been increasing. We have developed two new types of IC packages in response to this demand. One is an ultra thin small outline package (TSOP) which has been reduced in size from the standard SOP and the other, which uses Tape Automated Bonding (TAB) technology, is a super thin, high pin count TAB in cap (T.I.C.) package. In this paper, we present these packages and their features along with the technologies used to improve package reliability and TAB. Thin packages are vulnerable to high humidity exposure, especially after heat shock.1 The following items were therefore investigated in order to improve humidity resistance: (1) The molding compound thermal stress, (2) Water absorption into the molding compound and its effect on package cracking during solder dipping, (3) Chip attach pad area and its affect on package cracking, (4) Adhesion between molding resin and chip attach pad and its affect on humidity resistance. With the improvements made as a result of these investigations, the reliability of the new thin packages is similar to that of the standard thicker plastic packages.  相似文献
